The day before Thanksgiving 2012 was a busy one in FKMS' Brentwood office! The firm "adopted" 18 local families ranging from 3 to 9 members through Pronto of Long Island's Community Outreach program and donated ingredients for full Thanksgiving meals. Staff spent the day organizing groceries and wrapping packages to give to these needy households. When some of the families did not drop in to pick up their gifts, staff took the packages out to deliver them around town. All of the recipients were very grateful; one of the beneficiaries even invited the delivery team into her home to meet her children.
Due to the unexpected cost and disruption of Hurricane Sandy and the related aftermath, Pronto had observed an elevated need this year for food relief and community support among its constituency. Each basket included the traditional turkey and potatoes, along with fresh and canned vegetables, milk, juice, butter, baked goods and an apple pie.
